A particular gene combine with air pollution increases the risk of autism

According to the University Of Southern California, when children who possess MET gene exposed to air pollution are mostly affected by autism.
Autism spectrum disorder(ASD) is refer to wide spectrum disorder because no two affected persons will have same symptoms, they experience different combinations of symptoms. In general autism is any neuro developmental disorder caused by brain abnormality.
Some characteristics are

  • they lack social skills.
  • some likes physical contact while others do not like even being touched by their parents.
  • finds sudden noises unpleasant, quite shocking and cannot cope up with sudden changes in temperature.
  • person with autism do not speak much and will repeat the words they hear, also called as echolalia.
  • they possess repetitive behavior like drawing same picture again and again.
  • they often have obsessions.
Researchers say that the following may result in autism,
  • exposed to air pollution during pregnancy may cause ASD
  • If a pregnant women gets flu or suffer from persistent fever and takes any antibiotic may increases autism risk.
  • due to some changes in immune system.
  • Seattle Children's Research Institute found gene mutations were linked to the development of autism.
  • a child whose parents or siblings suffer from bipolar disorder have a greater risk of being diagnosed with an ASD
  •  if the father is older during conception, there is a risk of autism for the baby.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that 1 in 88 children are affected by autism.
Though there is no current effective treatment for curing autism, therapists report success with some common behavioral therapies including Floortime, Pivotal Response therapy and Verbal behavior therapy.
